Hi. My name is Whitney.

For those of you I don’t know, this is me:

I am a writer and a climber. I specialize in editorial and marketing content for the outdoor industry. I write copy:  consumer catalogs, web, workbooks, ads,  blog posts, captions, you name it.  My list of clients include: Marmot, Marker, Outdoor Research, Buff, Patagonia and Sterling Rope. Also, since 2005, I have  been a contributing editor with Rock and Ice magazine. I have bylines in numerous national print publications and various online publications. A collection of my published print stories are accessible through my online portfolio.

While I’m a writer by trade, but climbing is where I want to be most of the time. I feel very at home on the rock.

This shot was taken by the incredibly talented Keith Ladzinski in France’s Verdon Gorge in 2008.

In 2012, I made the cover of Rock and Ice, with a photo taken by Andrew Burr. While in Sicily climbing on the luscious limestone sea cliffs, friend and Enormocast podcast host, Chris Kalous, and I had flip-flopped leads on a newly established multipitch line in the heart of Palermo. This is me, seconding the third pitch of a route, swimming through tufas on the ceiling of a cave 80 meters off the deck. Take note, this is the only top-rope cover photo you will ever see.
